Blackjack questions answered

Hit means you ask for another card to get closer to 21. Stand means you keep your current total and let the dealer play. You choose hit or stand after seeing your first two cards and the dealer's up card.

Yes. If your first two cards are the same rank (two 8s, two Kings, etc.), you can split them into two separate hands. Each hand gets its own bet and plays independently against the dealer.

Double down lets you double your original bet after seeing your first two cards. You then get exactly one more card. It's useful when you have 11 or soft 16–18 and the dealer's up card looks weak.
